EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Education Programme

Quality education is an important factor for the development of society. Education in the rural segments is not only important to eradicate poverty and illiteracy, but also for various other social, economic and political reasons. There have been various programs initiated by Government of India and HCIL has been actively partnering in scaling up those programs along with various indigenous initiatives as per the need of the local community.

Major focus areas in field of educational development are-

1. Aligning with National Education Programme

The Right to Education Act (RTE), was enacted on 4 August 2009, which constitutes importance of free and compulsory education for children aged between 6 years and 14 years under Article 21a of the Indian Constitution.

Aligning ourselves with Government of India’s National Programme, we have enrolled 159 students at our schools under RTE Act. These students are provided free of cost education from LKG up to 8th class along with necessary educational items.

2. Transforming the Rural Educational Institutions

Government of India has always focused on establishing educational institution in both rural and urban areas to ensure free education to the under-privileged. However, lack of periodic upgradation of infrastructure makes students loose interest resulting in poor attendance.

HCIL in association with District Education Department, have been taking responsibility to periodically enhance the infrastructure of these Government schools in the vicinity of our manufacturing sites. Various initiatives taken by us are - Construction of School boundary wall, renovation of classrooms, repairing of roof, flooring work, wall putty & painting, etc. In last 03 years, we have transformed more than 15 Government Schools equipping them with upgraded infrastructure to ensure regular attendance of students.

3. School Support Programme

Lack of basic facilities in the Government Schools results high dropout rate. Hence, with the association of District Education Department, every year we cater to the needs of Government Schools under school support programme. Table & benches, Almira, fan, white board are provided along with regular supply of school bags, water bottles, books and other stationary items.

We have been able to support more than 50 Government schools benefitting more than 5000 students.

4. Scholarship Scheme for Meritorious Students from Financially Weaker Section of Society

Promoting interest of under privileged students, the scholarship scheme is aimed to identify meritorious students and provide them with all kinds of educational support viz.

  • Complete school fee to be waved off.
  • Provision of all education material, School dress, Shoes & Socks, Bag, and Sweater to be provided free of cost.
  • Cycle to be provided one time if the student is required to commute to school for more than two kilometres (one side).

5. Quality Education Through Our Company Managed Schools

Over the last 35 years, our company managed schools are continuously imparting quality education to the employees’ children and students in the vicinity of manufacturing site.
